Jessica Tobin, Visual Artist
Jessica Tobin is a visual artist based in New York City.
She is currently an MFA candidate at the School of Visual Arts and holds a BFA in Painting from Hunter College. She has also studied at META FORA in Barcelona spain and the New York Studio School. In addition to her art education, she earned an MS in Biochemistry from Yale University, a background that continues to shape her attention to material and process.
Tobin’s work has been recognized with awards including the Kossak Painting Fellowship, and residencies such as the Vermont Studio Center. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in both museums and galleries.
Jessica’s work is shaped by her daily life as a caretaker and homemaker, where attention to routine, maintenance, and care becomes central to her thinking and making. She lives and works in New York with her husband, daughter, and dog. Alongside her practice as an artist, she is a gardener, mother, and self-described domestic architect—roles that inform her sensitivity to space, labor, and the rhythms of everyday life
